I got penalty fare’d the other day. A beautiful £39.
OK, so I probably shouldn’t have attempted to use my open return ticket twice but I’m definitely no badass. In fact, ignoring the time I stuck a piece of Wrigley’s Juicy Fruit chewing gum under a science table in Year 9, I’d like to think this is the most untoward thing I’ve ever done.
Either way, not the greatest thing to happen after spending a lovely couple of days with my boyfriend, Milo Emile Boyd
(he insisted that I should mention his name). He’s now gone off travelling around Europe with friends for a bit…
Speaking of which, I feel like things are finally falling into place regarding my plans for Lille. Last week I managed to find accommodation with a couple living in a flat in Hellemmes. Being super close to the university in Villeneuve-d’Ascq, yet still not far from the main city centre, it seems like the ideal location!
After hearing some cauchemar stories about students situated in la place Pigalle by the Moulin Rouge with nothing more than a glorified hole in the floor toilet for their year abroad… to say that I’m relieved at this very moment in time would be an understatement.
Not to mention the fact that this beautiful message came up yesterday when I enrolled online for the academic year.
“Your tuition fee for 2013/4 will be £0.00’’ #OnlyOnTheYearAbroad
I even managed to book a ticket to Lille on the Eurostar from St. Pancras International for £50 which isn’t too bad, considering how late I’d left it.
OFFICIALLY MOVING TO LILLE ON AUGUST 27th
I was actually looking at the website earlier today for check in times and found this top tip:
“Remember that if in doubt, arrive with time to spare. And have a croissant.’’
Says it all really.
In the meantime, still looking for a bank to go with that doesn’t screw you over on exchange rate transaction fees… if anyone has any suggestions, holla at me!
I’ll keep you posted.
